SPORTS: CAF CONFIRMS THE ELIMINATION OF ASHANTI KOTOKO FROM THE CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

           KUMASI ASHANTI KOTOKO FC

Ghana will have no representative for this season’s CAF Champions League as Kumasi Ashanti Kotoko failed to qualify for the group stage.

CAF Confirmed the elimination of Kotoko after the Ghanaian club failed to provide the minimum number of players needed to face their opponent, Al Hilal due to Covid-19 infections.

With a group stage ticket to play for, Al Hilal came down to Ghana to take a 1 – 0 advantage heading into the second leg in Sudan. The showdown was however canceled after it has been reported that seven members of the Porcupine warriors had tested positive to the global pandemic.

The Kumasi based club accused their opponents of foul play after claiming all their players tested negative prior to to their departure from Ghana.

Updates from CAF’s Website indicates they cleared Al Hilal from any wrongdoing and add them to the qualified teams. That should confirm the exit of Asante Kotoko.
